COLUSA — October 26, 2026. Colusa’s annual leaf-collection period begins November 1 and runs through December 31, according to the city’s Public Works Department. Residents preparing their yards and sidewalks for fall cleanup should pay attention to two specific rules listed on the official city site.
Do not block drainage gutters
Colusa instructs residents to clear leaf piles away from street gutters for pickup. That helps prevent piles from obstructing storm drainage, particularly as colder-weather rain approaches. The city’s posted rules also state that green waste piles should consist only of waste from city trees. Property owners should not assume that private-yard cuttings, garbage or other debris are included in the city’s leaf-collection service.
When fees may apply
The city says leaf piles left on the street outside the November 1–December 31 collection window will be collected for a fee charged to the fronting property owner. The public page does not provide a precise charge in the text, so California58 is not inventing one. Residents who have questions about their own address should contact Public Works rather than leave material in the street outside the published collection window.
The same page says routine street sweeping happens monthly within city limits, while downtown business streets are generally swept on Thursdays. Leaf collection and regular sweeping are different services, and visitors should follow any temporary parking notices.
